- What is Kendo Spirit?
- Kendo Spirit is a Tokyo-based cultural experience operator that introduces visitors to the way of the samurai through hands-on Kendo sessions led by experienced instructors. Sessions take place at our dojo in Nakano, about 15 minutes from Tokyo Station.
- What experiences do you offer?
- We currently run two experiences: the one-hour Bushido Experience — an introduction to samurai mindset, breathing, etiquette and a first touch of Kendo, and the two-hour Samurai Experience, which goes deeper into Ki-Ken-Tai-Itchi and culminates in a real match with a veteran instructor.
- Where is the dojo?
- Our dojo is located in Nakano, Tokyo, approximately 15 minutes from Tokyo Station. The exact meeting address is sent in your booking confirmation.
- Do I need any prior Kendo experience?
- No, beginners are very welcome. Both sessions are designed for first-time participants, with instructors guiding you through every step in English.
- What language are the sessions in?
- All sessions are conducted in English, so international visitors can fully participate and ask questions as they go.
- Is equipment provided?
- Yes, all Kendo equipment needed for the session is provided. Traditional wear (hakama and gi) is available as an optional add-on if you'd like to fully look the part.
- Can I book a private session?
- Yes. A private session can be added on before payment, only one group per slot, and only on dates where 8 spots are available. This is ideal for couples, families, or small private groups.
- Will I receive photos or videos?
- Yes, photos and short videos from your session are sent to you by email after the experience, so you can keep a record of your time in the dojo.
- Who are the instructors?
- Sessions are led by experienced Kendo practitioners, including veteran instructors for the deeper Samurai Experience. They focus on authenticity, technique, and making the spirit of Kendo accessible to visitors.
- How do I book?
- Bookings are made directly on the Kendo Spirit storefront, pick your date and time, choose participants and any add-ons, then pay securely at checkout.

- Free cancellation is typically available up to 24 hours before the start of your session, please confirm the exact terms at checkout.
